Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 13, 2025

Tiger, Tiger (accessible at https://www.tigertigercomic.com, referred to as "we", "us", or "our") is a self-published webcomic website by Petra Erika Nordlund, based in Finland. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you visit our website. For the purposes of applicable data protection law (such as GDPR), Tiger, Tiger (through its owner/operator) is the Data Controller of your personal data collected via this website. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and complying with applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Important Note: Our website does not require you to create an account, subscribe, or make any purchases. We do not collect any payment information or account registration details. The personal data we collect is primarily through your voluntary interactions (such as contacting us or commenting) and through third-party services that help us operate the site (such as analytics, comments, and advertising platforms).

Information We Collect

We collect two main types of information: (1) information you provide to us directly, and (2) information collected automatically about your use of our site.

1. Information You Provide Directly

Contact Communications: If you choose to contact us (for example, by emailing us at [email protected]), you may provide personal data such as your name, email address, and any other information you include in your message. We will use this information solely to respond to your inquiry or request.

Comments: Our site allows users to post comments on comic pages via an embedded third-party commenting platform (Disqus). If you decide to leave a comment, you will be submitting information (like your comment content, and possibly your name or a Disqus profile) to the Disqus service. That information is collected and handled by Disqus according to their own privacy policy. We do not collect or store your account details for commenting; we only display the comments provided through the Disqus platform.

2. Information Collected Automatically (Usage Data)

When you visit tigertigercomic.com, certain data about your visit is collected automatically by our website and the third-party services we use. This Usage Data includes:

Technical Information: Your devices IP address, browser type, operating system, and device type (e.g. desktop or mobile).

Usage Information: The pages you visit on our site, the date and time of your visit, how long you spend on each page, and the referring page (the webpage that led you to our site, if any).

Interactions: How you interact with our site content, such as scrolling, clicks, or navigation actions (collected via analytics tools and Microsoft Clarity for user experience analysis).

This information is collected to help us understand how our site is used, to troubleshoot issues, and to improve the websites performance and content. We generally cannot use this Usage Data to identify you as an individual, but it may be considered personal data in some cases (for example, IP addresses can be personal data under GDPR).

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our site. Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They help our website and our third-party service providers recognize your browser and remember certain information.

Essential Cookies: These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. For example, we use cookies to remember your cookie consent preferences and for security measures (such as those used by our content delivery and security provider, Cloudflare). These cookies do not store personally identifiable information and are required for basic site functionality.

Analytics Cookies: With your consent, we use analytics cookies to collect information about how visitors use our site. This helps us analyze traffic and user behavior (for instance, which pages are most popular) so we can improve our content. We use third-party analytics services (described below) that set their own cookies to perform these functions.

Advertising Cookies: With your consent, our advertising partners may set cookies or similar technologies to deliver ads on our site and measure their effectiveness. We only use non-personalized ads (see the Advertising section below), but even non-personalized ads may use cookies for purposes like capping the number of times you see an ad and aggregate ad reporting.

When you first visit our site, you will see a cookie consent banner. This banner allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookies (such as analytics and advertising cookies), or to customize your preferences. If you opt out of certain categories of cookies, those cookies will not be set and the related features (e.g. analytics or ads) may be disabled. You can change your cookie preferences at any time by revisiting the cookie banner (or via our Cookie Policy page). For more detailed information on the specific cookies and trackers we use, please see our Cookie Policy page at https://www.tigertigercomic.com/cookies/.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected about you for the following purposes:

To Operate and Maintain the Site: We use data (particularly Usage Data and technical information) to ensure the website works correctly, to debug and fix errors, and to protect the site against fraud or malicious activity (for example, through Cloudflares security features).

To Respond to Inquiries: If you contact us directly, we use the personal information you provided (such as your email address) to communicate with you and address your questions or requests.

To Understand and Improve Our Service: Analytics data helps us understand overall user behavior on our site. We analyze trends and statistics (for example, total page views, how users navigate between pages, etc.) to improve the content, layout, and performance of the webcomic website. This is done using aggregated data, not to track individual users.

To Enable User Engagement: If you post comments via Disqus, we display those comments on our site to facilitate discussion among readers. (Note: The handling of comment data is primarily done by Disqus, as detailed in the Third-Party Services section below.)

To Display Advertisements: Advertising revenue helps support the availability of our webcomic. We use information such as your general location (e.g. country), device type, and the context of your visit to display non-personalized ads that are relevant to the content. We do not use personalized advertising that tracks your browsing history across other sites for targeting. Ad-related data (impressions, clicks) is used in aggregate to measure the performance of our advertising partners' campaigns.

For Security and Abuse Prevention: We may use certain data (like IP addresses or browser user-agent strings) to help detect and prevent malicious activity, spam, and other security risks on the site.

We do not use your data to send marketing emails or newsletters, and we will not contact you for promotional purposes unless you have explicitly requested or consented to it. We also do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, we process your personal data based on valid legal grounds under the GDPR:

Consent: We rely on your consent to place non-essential cookies and to process data for analytics and advertising purposes. You provide this consent when you accept cookies via our cookie banner. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time (for example, by changing your cookie settings or contacting us).

Legitimate Interests: In certain cases, we process data based on our legitimate interests. For example, it is in our legitimate interest to ensure the security of our website (processing IP addresses to block malicious traffic) and to respond to communications you send us. When we rely on this basis, we ensure that our interests are not overridden by your data protection rights.

Legal Obligation: We may process or retain some data if necessary to comply with a legal obligation (for instance, retaining information if required by law or a government authority).

Third-Party Services and Data Processors

We use a number of third-party services to operate features of our website. These service providers process data on our behalf or provide functionality on the site. Each of these providers may collect and use your data under their own policies. We recommend you review their privacy policies for more details. The key third-party services we use on tigertigercomic.com are:

Disqus (Comment Platform): We embed Disqus to allow you to comment on comic pages. If you engage with the Disqus comments, you are subject to Disquss own privacy policy and terms of service. Disqus may collect data such as your email, username, profile information, and any information you post in comments. We do not have access to your Disqus account details or any information you provide to Disqus beyond the comments that appear on our site. (Disqus may also use cookies to manage user login and comment functions.)

Google Analytics 4: We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics collects Usage Data (e.g. pages visited, time spent, IP address with IP anonymization enabled, if we have configured it etc.) and uses cookies to help analyze website traffic. The information generated by Google Analytics may be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers outside of the EU (such as the United States). Google is certified under appropriate data protection frameworks and uses Standard Contractual Clauses for EU data transfers. We have configured Google Analytics to not collect personally identifying information such as names or email addresses. (You can find more details in Google's Privacy Policy on their website.)

Matomo (Analytics): We also use Matomo for web analytics. Matomo is an open-source analytics platform that can be self-hosted. If our Matomo instance is self-hosted on our servers, the data collected (similar usage statistics as Google Analytics) remains under our control and is stored in the EU. Matomo may use cookies or similar means to track repeat visits, but we have configured it to respect Do Not Track settings and to anonymize IP addresses where possible. If Matomo is provided via a cloud service, that provider will have access to the analytics data under their privacy terms.

Microsoft Clarity: Microsoft Clarity is a user experience analytics tool that records anonymized information about how users interact with our site (such as mouse movements, clicks, and scrolls). This helps us identify how we can improve our sites design. Clarity may record your interactions in the form of playback sessions, but it does not capture any sensitive information (and we do not have any forms for you to input sensitive data on our site). Data collected by Clarity (including your IP address and device information) may be transferred to Microsoft servers (which could be outside the EU). Microsofts privacy practices apply to this data.

Google Tag Manager: We use Google Tag Manager to manage and load the various analytics and tracking scripts on the site. Tag Manager is a tool that helps deploy other scripts and does not collect personal information itself. However, it will trigger the loading of other tools (like Google Analytics, Clarity, etc.) which do collect data as described above.

Cloudflare (CDN & Security): Our site is served through Cloudflare, which helps deliver the website content faster and protects us against malicious traffic (e.g. DDoS attacks). When you visit the site, your requests pass through Cloudflares servers. As a result, Cloudflare will process information such as your IP address and browser details for security filtering and performance optimization. Cloudflare may place a security cookie on your device (e.g. _cfduid or similar) to distinguish legitimate users from bots. This cookie is considered essential for security and does not track your activity beyond our site. Cloudflares data centers are worldwide, so your data (e.g. IP addresses in logs) may be transferred outside your country as part of this service. Cloudflare is committed to GDPR compliance in its role as a data processor.

Note on Future Tracking: We do not currently use any social media tracking pixels (such as the Facebook/Meta Pixel) or similar marketing trackers on our site. If we decide to implement new analytics or advertising tools in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly and ensure that any such addition is communicated to you (for instance, via the cookie consent mechanism and an updated Privacy Policy notice).

Advertising on Our Site

Our website displays advertising to help support the comic. We currently partner with two ad networks: ComicAd Network and Google AdSense. Non-Personalized Ads: We do not use targeted advertising profiles on our site. This means the ads you see are not based on tracking your behavior across other websites or building a personal profile about you. Instead, ads are largely contextual (for example, they may relate to webcomics or art, since our site content is a webcomic) or based on general location (such as your country, to ensure the ad is appropriate for your region). However, note that even non-personalized ads may utilize cookies or device identifiers for limited purposes like preventing the same ad from showing too often, detecting click fraud, or aggregating ad performance statistics. Details about our ad partners:

ComicAd Network: ComicAd is an advertising network focused on comic and art-related websites. When ComicAd serves ads on our site, it may collect basic information such as your IP address, browser type, and the fact that you visited our site, in order to display the ad and measure its performance (for example, counting ad views and clicks). ComicAd may use cookies to remember which ads have been shown to you. ComicAd does not use personalized tracking on our site beyond the scope of delivering contextually relevant ads. For more information, you can refer to ComicAds own privacy policy on their website.

Google AdSense: We use Google AdSense to display ads. In the EU and other regions where applicable, we have configured AdSense to serve non-personalized ads only. Google AdSense may still use cookies and similar technologies for frequency capping, aggregated ad reporting, and to combat fraud and abuse, but it will not use your personal data to personalize the ads on our site without your consent. This means Google is not selecting ads based on your prior browsing history or demographic profile when you visit our site. Google may collect information such as your IP address, browser details, and interaction with ads (e.g. clicking an ad) for operational purposes. Any data Google collects via AdSense on our site is subject to Googles Privacy Policy. (You can learn more about how Google uses information in advertising at Googles Privacy & Terms site.)

If you opt out of advertising cookies through our cookie consent banner, Google AdSense and other ad scripts will be disabled or limited in functionality, which may result in fewer or no ads being shown to you. You may still see some basic contextual advertisements that do not rely on cookies.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. However, we may share or disclose information in the following circumstances:

Service Providers: We share data with the third-party services listed above (analytics providers, comment platform, advertising networks, Cloudflare) as necessary for them to perform their services on our site. These parties act as data processors or independent controllers as described in their privacy policies. They are contractually or legally obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes for which it was provided.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or to respond to valid legal requests (for example, a court order, subpoena, or request from law enforcement or regulatory authorities). We will only disclose the data that is necessary and will comply with applicable legal procedures.

Protection of Rights and Safety: If necessary, we may share information to enforce our sites terms of use, to investigate or prevent suspected fraud or security issues, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Tiger, Tiger, our users, or the public. For instance, we might provide information to law enforcement in cases of cyber attacks or misuse of our site.

Business Transfers: In the unlikely event that Tiger, Tiger (the website and its assets) is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale, user information (which in our case is minimal) may be transferred to the new owner as part of that transaction. If such a transfer occurs, we will ensure the successor honors the commitments we have made in this Privacy Policy and will notify users (for example, by posting a notice on the site).

Apart from the cases above, we will not disclose your personal information to any other third parties without your consent.

Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law:

Contact Emails: If you contact us via email, we may retain your message and contact information for as long as needed to address your inquiry or as required by legal obligations. We do not use this information for marketing.

Comments: Comments posted through Disqus are stored indefinitely on the Disqus platform (and visible on our site) unless you or we remove them. You can delete your own comments through your Disqus account, or you may request that we remove a specific comment from public view and we will do our best to accommodate (note that backup copies might remain on Disquss servers according to their policies).

Analytics Data: Data collected via Google Analytics, Matomo, or Microsoft Clarity is retained according to the configurations and policies of those services. For example, Google Analytics data retention is set to an appropriate period (e.g. 14 months for user-level data, or as per Googles current settings) after which Google automatically deletes the data. Matomo data, if self-hosted, may be kept indefinitely in aggregate form, but we periodically review and delete or anonymize older raw data that is no longer needed. Microsoft Clarity retains session recordings for a limited time (e.g. up to 12 months) before deletion. All analytics data we access is used in aggregate form and is not tied to individual identities in our own systems.

Ad Data: Advertising impression and click data collected by our ad partners is retained as per their policies. Google and ComicAd typically retain ad logs for a period necessary to analyze and report on ad performance and to comply with legal obligations. (For instance, Google may keep advertising data for a number of months for financial and security reasons.)

Server and Security Logs: Our web hosting environment and Cloudflare may maintain logs of website access (which include IP addresses, browser information, and timestamps) for security, debugging, and traffic analysis. These logs are generally retained for a short duration (a few weeks to a few months) unless needed longer to investigate security incidents.

When personal data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, we will securely delete or anonymize it.

International Data Transfers

Tiger, Tiger is based in Finland, but the third-party services we use may process data in other countries. This means your information (in particular, Usage Data and technical data) might be transferred to and stored on servers outside of your home country or outside the European Economic Area (EEA). For example:

Google and Microsoft may process data in the United States or other locations worldwide.

Cloudflare operates a global network of servers and may route your data through servers outside the EEA.

ComicAd and Disqus may use servers in the U.S. or other jurisdictions.

Whenever we transfer personal data out of the EEA, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information. For instance, our service providers may rely on EU Commission-approved Standard Contractual Clauses, or be certified under an approved data protection framework, or implement Binding Corporate Rules, as applicable, to ensure that your data is afforded an adequate level of protection. By using our site or interacting with its features, you understand that your information may be transferred to countries outside of your own. However, we will always handle your personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws, regardless of where it is processed.

Your Data Protection Rights

As a user of our site and, if applicable, a data subject under GDPR, you have certain rights regarding your personal data. These include:

Right of Access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to obtain information about how we process it.

Right to Rectification: If any personal information we have is incorrect or incomplete, you have the right to have it corrected or updated.

Right to Erasure: You can request that we delete the personal data we hold about you (the "right to be forgotten"). We will do so unless we have a compelling reason or legal obligation to retain the data. (For example, if you have an active comment on our site, you may delete it via Disqus or ask us to remove it on your behalf.)

Right to Restrict Processing: You have the right to ask us to limit the processing of your data in certain circumstances (for instance, if you contest the accuracy of the data or object to our processing).

Right to Object: You can object to our processing of your personal data when we base it on legitimate interests. You also have the right to object if we were to use your data for direct marketing purposes (which we currently do not).

Right to Data Portability: For data you have provided to us directly (for example, if you had provided information in a form, which in our case is minimal), you have the right to request that data in a commonly used, machine-readable format, or ask that we transfer it to another data controller where technically feasible.

Right to Withdraw Consent: If we are processing your data based on your consent (such as for analytics or advertising cookies), you can withdraw that consent at any time. You can do this by adjusting your cookie settings on our site or contacting us. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal.

Right to Complain: If you believe we have infringed your data protection rights, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Since we are based in Finland, our lead supervisory authority is the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman. You can also contact the data protection authority in your country of residence.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests (to ensure that we do not disclose data to the wrong person). We will respond to your request within the timeframe required by law (generally within one month, with the possibility of an extension if the request is complex).

Security of Your Information

We take reasonable measures to protect the security of your personal data. This includes using technical and organizational safeguards to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or alteration of your information. For example, our site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection to protect data in transit, and we limit access to the systems that store personal data (such as analytics dashboards or comment moderation tools) to authorized personnel only. However, please note that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use industry-standard and commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You share information with us at your own risk, and it is important to also protect yourself by using strong passwords (where applicable) and avoiding sharing sensitive information through unencrypted channels.

Children's Privacy

Our website and content are not specifically directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years old. If you are under 13, please do not provide any personal data on our site (for example, by posting in the comments or contacting us). If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe that your child under 13 may have provided personal information to us, please contact us at [email protected], and we will work to remove that information. For minors between 13 and 16 years old in the EEA, if any processing is based on consent (such as certain analytics or ad cookies), we will seek consent from a parent or guardian as required by law. In practice, since our site does not require account sign-ups or actively collect personal data from users, this situation is unlikely to occur.

Links to Other Websites

Our site may contain links to other websites or embedded content that is hosted by third parties (for example, an embedded video or social media share button). If you click on a third-party link or interact with third-party content, you will be directed to that third partys site or service. This Privacy Policy applies only to tigertigercomic.com, so we strongly recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any external websites you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we update the policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we may also provide a more prominent notice on our website (such as a banner or pop-up notification) to inform you of the update. In certain cases, if required by law, we will seek your consent for material changes in how we use your data (for example, if we ever planned to collect new types of personal data or use it for new purposes). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
